Operational Context

Job Vacancy Specialized Technician (2 openings)

Overview of Project and Position

Aishilou project has two aims:
a) To renovate an existing building to create suitable accommodation for the beneficiaries of the Housing program.
b) To provide employment opportunities for recognized refugees as well as training for employment related skills.

The position will mostly be related to the first aim (renovating the building), but will include teaching construction skills to beneficiaries that participate in the project.

Key objectives / responsibilities of the role
  • Do all necessary repair, maintenance and construction work according to his/her specialization (i.e. plumbing, electricity, carpentry, etc.)
  • Perform any needed tests after any repair or maintenance.
  • Work in collaboration with other specialized technicians and workers.
  • Keep specialized technician working area safe clean and tidy.
  • Look after all equipment and tools provided by LeSol.
  • Ensure that construction focal point is informed of any problems that might be linked to LeSol relevant project.
  • Make suggestions regarding any repair or maintenance work needed in LeSol Aishilou premise.
  • Immediately inform the construction focal point of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins.
  • Ensure proper operation and prevent faults/deterioration of LeSol equipment/installations/infrastructures, under the supervision of the construction focal point.
  • When necessary, assist with the loading/unloading of building materials.
  • Keep all documents related to installations/equipment/infrastructures in order.
  • Prepare accurate work reports (record sheets, problems, measures taken, etc.).
  • Supervise and train construction workers.
  • Perform any other tasks, as requested
Required degree/experience
  • Previous experience in construction, plumbing, electricity and/or carpentry required
  • Previous work experience in an intercultural team is an asset
Required qualities
  • Open to different cultures, social backgrounds and ideas
  • Ability to work in an unstable and changing environment
