Overview of Position
The communications Coordinator is responsible for overviewing internal and external matters of the department and is responsible for developing the Media and Communications strategy for Lesvos Solidarity, as well as its timely and effective implementation. The incumbent coordinates LeSol communications and relevant workflow and supervises the Comms department (including advocacy), working closely with the fundraising and other LeSol units.
Key objectives / Responsibilities
Develop and implement organization-wide media and communications strategy/plan to promote LeSol vision and mission.
Develop and implement a social media strategy across Lesvos Solidarity departments. Create engaging social media content, and strategically expand the organization’s social media engagement.
Coordinate, design, produce, edit and review high-quality content for a variety of communications outputs of the organization (e.g. website, newsletter, reports, presentations)
Coordinate, design, produce, edit and review LeSol media output including print, radio, and TV, acting as a spokesperson where relevant.
Lead on design and development of a new website for LeSol.
Develop and maintain a network of journalists and influencers.
Oversee LeSol media relations and maintain a media kit about LeSol.
Proactively engage with the media to grow the organization’s visibility as well as reactively respond to media inquiries including crisis scenarios. (Local - National - EU and International)
Develop and execute an internal communications plan, ensuring everyone is aware of important updates and is brought together under a united vision and mission.
Facilitate regular organization-wide status update meetings.
Coordinate media/comms team members including managing workflow and staff.
Represent the department internally in cross-departmental bodies and meetings.
Support Lesvos Solidarity departments with communications work as needed.
Regularly evaluate communication activities and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Create and share media plans with AMKE representatives.
Investigate-Propose and discuss campaigns to promote the mission of LeSol.
Prepare Flyers, posters, and business cards as required and to promote the work of the organization.
Stay updated with local, national, EU and international news related to the mission of the organisation.
Participate in events related to the vision of LeSol as a representative.
Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of communication campaigns and strategies.
Follow ISO procedures.
Plan press conferences and other promotional events to help keep the organisation top of mind.
Coordinate volunteers, vendors and more to support promotions events.
Perform outreach to press outlets, magazines, influencers and build strategic partnerships to grow the image and network of the organisation.
Speak to visitors of the organisation and attend meetings with them during their stay and coordinate visit when necessary.
Coordinate events related to different programs (e.g Erasmus+)
Ensure that social media material, website, and other requirements from proposals are met, according to Agreements.
Contribute to Grant writing when required.
Report qualitative and quantitative data and information.
Required degree/experience
At least three (3) years of professional experience in media a/o communications, including strategy development and planning.
Proven professional experience in social media strategy and growing organizational visibility across platforms.
In-depth knowledge of the Lesvos context essential with professional experience is a huge asset.
Experience in coordination including leading a team.
Experience working in NGOs as well as with a vulnerable population including safeguarding.
Experience working in the humanitarian and/or human rights field is preferable.
Fluency in Greek and English.
Required qualities

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills including networking and public speaking.
Exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail and ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced environment.

The employee, following training organised by Lesvos Solidarity, will assess whether the beneficiers have experienced racist violence and will proceed with their consent to record the incident for the Network for Recording Racist Incidents, of which Lesvos Solidarity is a member. Lesvos Solidarity is an organisation registered with the Ministry of Asylum and Migration and has ISO quality management procedures. This requires comprehensive reporting of quantitative and qualitative data and information. In addition, the organisation works collaboratively across departments. This requires team members to support each other in their tasks to meet additional needs from time to time. All team members are also asked to actively participate in events, seminars, workshops, and discussions related to both their role and the work of the organisation.
