As thousands of refugees trapped on Lesvos continue to face appalling conditions and uncertainty over their future, local and international activists will join refugee activists for a week of events and training from 15-23 July to demand action by the EU.
It started in 2012 to compare New York and Los Angeles in one single day, to document the struggles and similarities of humans in different locations. Now in its 6th year we are thousands who come together in one single day to tell the bigger picture of human existence from more than 700 cities.
Dialogues Across Borders questions and explores who are we to each other as the 'refugee crisis' unfolds.
In 2016 a makeshift photography and poetry exhibition was co-created by refugees and volunteers at Lesvos Solidarity - Pikpa on the Greek island of Lesvos. The transnational friendships forged in this context and sustained by social media became the catalyst to a series of travelling interactive exhibitions across Europe.
ex -PIKPA camp, which hosts vulnerable refugees, is under threat of closure. It has been one of the best examples of solidarity in action.
The threat of closure is both an attack on solidarity groups and part of the EU/Turkey plan of detention, deprivation of liberty & deportation.
We must resist.
