PIKPA Mytilene began in 2012. It as an open space accommodating refugees and supports vulnerable groups of refugees and locals. It is also a venue for a creative meeting of people from all over the world. Furthermore, PIKPA operates as a support and reception structure in case of emergency.

Refugees, Greek islanders and activists today called on European leaders to heed their plight in a flash mob on a beach on the island of Lesvos symbolising the spirit of “refugees welcome”, organized by Amnesty International and Lesvos Solidarity.

Dialogues Across Borders questions and explores who are we to each other as the 'refugee crisis' unfolds.

In 2016 a makeshift photography and poetry exhibition was co-created by refugees and volunteers at Lesvos Solidarity - Pikpa on the Greek island of Lesvos. The transnational friendships forged in this context and sustained by social media became the catalyst to a series of travelling interactive exhibitions across Europe.
