Overview

The cutters are the people preparing the material used in Safe Passage Bags Workshop: they clean the material that is upcycled (life jackets, dinghies, tents), and they cut the material and other fabrics according to the patterns so the tailors can sew the bags. They must be physically able to handle standing during the shift and lifting some weight.

Key objectives/responsibilities of the role
  • Determine for which products material needs to be prepared
  • If needed, clean material for upcycling (life jackets, dinghies, tents, donated clothes)
  • Use patterns to cut material for upcycling and other fabrics in preparation for the tailors to sew the bags
  • If needed, help source material to be upcycled (collect dinghies from beaches etc.)
  • Participate in team meetings to create new products
Required experience
  • Preferred: experience in working with people of different cultural backgrounds
  • Preferred: experience in precise/detailed manual work, for example shoe making, tailoring, etc.
  • Required: Knowledge of Basic English or Greek ,though support for classes in Mosaik will be offered.

Other tasks related to the project might be assigned & active participation in LeSol meetings and events are also expected.
