Job Vacancy Focal Point Safe Passage Bags Workshop

Hours p/w Full time, 40 h/w
Overview The focal point is responsible for the overall direction of the workshop (choice of products and materials, focus of the production, marketing and sales). S/he cooperates with the production team for a smooth production process as well as online and shop sales. S/he is responsible for the cooperation of the team, as well as the communication with the rest of the organisation (advocacy/comms, finance, fundraising and AMKE. She/he monitors the activities in the workshop and ensures accurate reporting. S/he is also responsible for communication with (potential) partners as well as media and other visitors.
Key objectives / Responsibilities of the rule
  • Lead workshop by determining the overall vision: coordinate design, production, and sales processes
  • Responsible for internal and external communication, including reporting, requests for cooperation with third parties, social media (together with the sales focal point), and general media and visitors
  • Responsible for monitoring and budget (incl. cooperation with the finance department) for sales and expense
  • Responsible for team level HR, cooperation within the team, and participate in hiring procedure for new team members
  • Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable
  • Lead project monitoring, including the development and regular review of project indicators and objectives
  • Responsible for the implementation of workshops/training related to the workshop.
  • Responsible for collaborations on workshops and events with Humade Crafts Workshop.
  • Responsible for participation in external and internal events.
  • Promoting environmental awareness
  • In charge of the cash registry and daily sales, in collaboration with the financial focal point for handovers.
  • Daily monitoring of the workshop's email address for communications and sales.
  • Responsible for postal services.
  • Following ISO procedures and SOPs of the organisation.
  • Helping new team members with training and support with classes for skills development.
  • Research for material and collaboration with other agents/partners for ensuring access to new materials.
  • Keeping the space clean and encouraging team members to maintain the cleanliness of their station.
  • Following Health and Safety measure protocol.
  • Adhere to the organisation’s code of conduct and code of ethics.
  • Following the organisation's best practices.
  • Other tasks assigned, relevant to the Safe Passage Workshop.
  • Attending organisational and team meetings.
Required experience
  • At least two years of experience in a coordinating/supervising role, managing (small) team(s)
  • Experience working in an intercultural structured environment, with people of different cultural backgrounds
  • Preferred: hands-on experience creating bags or other similar items
  • Preferred: demonstrable interest in upcycling and environmental matters
Required qualities
  • Fluent in English and Greek, other languages (Farsi, French, Arabic) appreciated
  • Flexible and able to take quick action

  • Clear communicator
  • Ability to adapt to change

Lesvos Solidarity is an organisation registered with the Ministry of Asylum and Migration and has ISO quality management procedures. This requires comprehensive reporting of quantitative and qualitative data and information.

In addition, the organisation works collaboratively across departments. This requires team members to support each other in their tasks to meet additional needs from time to time. All team members are also asked to actively participate in events, seminars, workshops, and discussions related to both their role and the work of the organisation.
